A new lease of life for my books

As you know, I was bitterly disappointed when Satalyte shut up shop as it might have meant the end of my admittedly short career as a publi...

About Me

My photo
I am a writer, editor, reviewer and dance teacher based in Perth, Western Australia.

My books

The first two novels of my trilogy, The Talismans, are not available as e-books at present, but I expect to get them back online shortly. However, I do have paperbacks of The Dagger of Dresnia at the low price of $25 including postage within Australia. I also have a short story, 'La Belle Dame', in print - see Mythic Resonance below. The best way to contact me is via Facebook!

Buy The Talismans

The first two books of The Talismans trilogy were published by Satalyte Publications, which, sadly, has gone out of business. I hope to see my books back on Amazon under a new publisher in the near future.

The Camelot Test

Ok, so I'm a sucker for Quizzes!

My result for The Camelot Test...

Lady of the Lake

Mistress of the Enchanted Isle (Avalon), you are beautiful, poised and very powerful. You strike fear and love in the heart of your peers.

Hm. Pity I missed out on the good looks...

(I think I'll do the test six more times, fudging my answers so I can collect all the lovely pictures!)

oups i've written to the wrong topic before here sorry for that ...

so ashamed ^^
i'm an 'idiot' Lancelot

Satima Flavell said...

No worries, Gynie: Lancelot made much worse mistakes than that, like screwing the boss's wife:-)

Jo said...

I've never heard it put that way Satima, but I guess that's exactly what he did.

The Lancelot pic used by the test was one by Pre-Raphaelite artist Eleanor Fortescue-Brickdale (see here). I wasn't that keen, so I borrowed Richard Gere instead. :)

I like RG better, too:-)

Oh, and here are my complete scores:

81% on LadyoftheLake, higher than 88% of other takers
80% on Lancelot, higher than 77% of other takers
69% on Arthur, higher than 38% of other takers
60% on Merlin, higher than 57% of other takers
29% on Morgana, higher than 41% of other takers
9% on Mordred, higher than 27% of other takers
9% on Guinivere, higher than 16% of other takers

I think that is a very good looking Lancelot ru. When you say Richard Gere, did he play Lancelot?

Jo said...

OK I did the test again, still got Merlin and had the following scores.

# You scored 56% on Arthur, higher than 14% of your peers.
# 45/100 You scored 27% on Guinivere, higher than 45% of your peers.
# 66/100 You scored 27% on Mordred, higher than 66% of your peers.
# 17/100 You scored 56% on Lancelot, higher than 17% of your peers.
# 80/100 You scored 67% on Merlin, higher than 80% of your peers.
# 65/100 You scored 36% on Morgana, higher than 65% of your peers.
# 17/100 You scored 56% on LadyoftheLake, higher than 17% of your peers.

Rather a lot of Morgana and Mordred in mine with a good dose of Guinevere.

hey ! LAncelot did not screwed up anyone ! She said yes ! She was punished as well as far as i remember ! I quite like the preraphaelites > much more than the awful yarky RGere who is afraid about our french cheeze called the 'Munster' ! He said once he had to pray some mantras for a whole day to find some peace back after smelling 'Munster' on e tv french show... He is at least ugly for that reason.

i'm polemizing lol

Satima Flavell said...

Gosh, you and I must very different, Jo! I'm glad someone had poor old Guinevere near the top of the list.

That Munster cheese must be amazing, Gynie! I haven't heard of it, so perhaps it's not available here in Australia. We can buy real Roquefort, though, and although it's expensive I sometimes buy a little piece for a treat.

Oh dear, colloquialisms! How to explain? To screw someone is to have sex with them, like baiser in French: to screw up means to do something really badly so it spoils the whole job, as in "the boss told me to get in early and finish the report, but I slept in and was late for work, so I really screwed up". So Lancelot certainly screwed up in screwing Guinevere. Even if the lady agrees, it's never a good idea to hop into bed with the boss's wife!:-)

I like the Pre-Raphealites, too, but I like Richard Gere as well!

hrugaar said...

Richard Gere played Lancelot in the movie First Knight, with an older Arthur played by Sean Connery. I think he may have been joking about the Munster cheese.

I love the Pre-Raphs, just felt that Ms. F-Brickit's version of Lancelot didn't look anything like I'd imagined him.

Satima Flavell said...

Isn't it funny how we get ideas of what characters ought to look like? To me, Lance ought to be a bit more rugged that the guy in the painting. I think I'd like him to have dark hair, too.

Imagine me said...

Hmm. I was Lancelot and when I did the test again changing three answers I was the Lady of the Lake. So apparently there's not that much difference in their characters. LOL

Satima Flavell said...

I think you must be right, Helen. Hrugaar's Lancelot was only hair's breadth ahead of his LotL as well.

Oh no! Fancy hating quizzes! They are the staff of life to me! Well, not quite, but I am rather keen on them:-)
