About Me

My photo
Perth, Western Australia, Australia
I am based in Perth, Western Australia. You might enjoy my books - The Dagger of Dresnia, the first book of the Talismans Trilogy, is available at all good online book shops as is Book two, The Cloak of Challiver. Book three, The Seer of Syland, is in preparation. I trained in piano and singing at the NSW Conservatorium of Music. I also trained in dance (Scully-Borovansky, WAAPA) and drama (NIDA). Since 1987 I have been writing reviews of performances in all genres for a variety of publications, including Music Maker, ArtsWest, Dance Australia, The Australian and others. Now semi-retired, I still write occasionally for the ArtsHub website.

My books

The first two books of my trilogy, The Talismans, (The Dagger of Dresnia, and book two, The Cloak of Challiver) are available in e-book format from Smashwords, Amazon and other online sellers. Book three of the trilogy, The Seer of Syland, is in preparation.I also have a short story, 'La Belle Dame', in print - see Mythic Resonance below - as well as well as a few poems in various places. The best way to contact me is via Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/satimaflavell

Buy The Talismans

The first two books of The Talismans trilogy were published by Satalyte Publications, which, sadly, has gone out of business. However, The Dagger of Dresnia and The Cloak of Challiver are available as ebooks on the usual book-selling websites, and book three, The Seer of Syland, is in preparation. The easiest way to contact me is via Facebook.

Ok, here we go again! I found this on Gillian Polock's LJ and of course I had to try it! (Gillian, being a Gentleperson and a Scholar, came out as an Obsessive-Compulsive Bookworm!)

You read to inform or entertain yourself, but you're not nerdy about it. You've read most major classics (in school) and you have a favorite genre or two.

Satima -- How sad to be a non-reader: yet, I do know a few!

Me too, even among my own children! I think readers are born, not made, for all my kids had stories read to them and there were lots and lots of books in the house - but two of the five do not read.

I am a Dedicated Reader, to see the results check my blog page.

Yes, isn't it terrible that some people don't read. I had a girlfriend who never picked up a book. Matt doesn't very often, he sits and watches the goggle box although he will tell you he doesn't watch it much. He does enjoy Reader's Digest and some of the local paper.

To me you miss so very much by not reading, I couldn't imagine what my life would be like without books.

I came out as a dedicated reader - I kinda knew that! Life without books? Unimaginable!

You're right, guys, life without books would be unbearable. If only I could do without them I could live in a one-bedroomed flat instead of a two - but I can't bear the thought of parting with my books!
